Hermes for the Office!!

Hey Ladies!!!

When you need to perk up your boring office suit, what better way to do it than with an Hermes Scarf?? Nothing will work better to change your office appearance from Drab to FAB!!

When you think of Hermes, you think of European glamour, Grace Kelly, and timeless sophistication.  Each Hermes scarf is a true work of art.  Hermes Scarf Silk Twill
They are well worth the investment for the artistic value alone! Get one girls! This is the one classic piece that will take you anywhere and always impress.  I love, love, love my scarf and Hermes cuffs.  The thing that always gets people talking is the vibrant colors, interesting subject matter, and masterful prints.  Each scarf has its own story to tell.  For example, my scarf pictured below reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Roma gypsy culture of Europe.  There are story-tellers, musicians, a gypsy caravan, and even the patron saint of the gypsies, St. Sarah of Kali Saint Sarah of Kali.  So many interesting lessons can be learned from the Hermes Scarf :)

Hey Everybody!! It is Oscar Sunday!! Get out your ballgowns...have a last minute Oscar party with your friends!!

I love Grace Kelly's Oscar look: the perfect green silk!

Grace Kelly Oscar Dress

Grace Kelly Green

When I was the Southern California Rose of Tralee, my mother and sister made me a silk gown to copy Grace Kelly's.  Using a Bellville Sassoon pattern, the wonderful owner of Sky Couture in Murrieta found us the exact matching fabric!! It was a total dream come true.  I will definitely be wearing my dress for tonight!!

Here is my dress pictured below:

Lady Lawyer's Picks from Peter Pilotto for Target

Another great collaboration between affordability and high fashion!  The latest collection brings together London phenomenon Peter Pilotto with Target.  The collection hit stores at the beginning of February and it is totally flying off the shelves.  If you are familiar with Peter Pilotto, then you know that he specializes in bright colors and bold prints.  Some of these items are potentially not appropriate for the Lady Lawyer at the office, but we found a few pieces that can definitely translate well to the workplace.  The cool thing about the Peter Pilotto collection is that the pieces lend themselves to weekend wear as well.

This blouse would be great with a black pencil skirt and a blazer or one of the collection's more muted black and white skirts.

This dress would be appropriate for the office with tights, black pumps, and a blazer.

This blazer is hot!  It would be fabulous with so many things in your lady lawyer wardrobe.

Beautiful blouse!  I would wear this with a black pencil skirt or trousers.

The geometric print might be a bit much, but it can easily be toned down with a solid on top for an office-appropriate lady lawyer ensemble.

For the firm pool party!

Cute outfit!

Homemade Meatball Sandwiches

This is an easy and delicious lunch or dinner made with very few ingredients.  It's very satisfying!  We started with our homemade gluten free bread from our cookbook, but you can use your favorite store-bought bread if you prefer.  In our version, we used a very high-quality store-bought Arrabiata pasta sauce, but you can make your own if you have a favorite recipe.  This is a wonderful lunch for a lazy weekend day!

Begin by toasting your bread slices.  Then, butter one side of the toast slices.  Place the buttered toast slices, butter side down, on a heavy grill pan.  Arrange thinly sliced cheese on top of the toast slices.  You can use whatever type of cheese you like or have available.  Mozzarella would be a traditional choice, but we used Cheddar and it was just as delicious!  Monitor the toast slices while the cheese melts, making sure that the toast does not burn.

At the same time, heat a small amount of olive oil in a heavy pan and heat your meatballs.  We used Aidell's Italian Style with Mozzarella Cheese Meatballs because they're very high quality and labeled as gluten free!  Brown the meatballs until they are heated thoroughly and crispy on the edges.  If you have fresh onion and garlic on hand, finely chop one garlic clove and one half onion and sauté along with the meatballs until softened.

In another small saucepan, heat up the desired amount of pasta sauce.

Once the cheese has completely melted, transfer the toast slices to a serving plate.  Arrange several meatballs on top of each slice and top with a generous dollop of pasta sauce.  Sprinkle with fresh basil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Sochi Style: Which Country Looks Best?

The Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are officially underway.  The athletes are gorgeous and the competition is fierce, but we are really excited about the fashion!  As usual, the U.S.A. delegation wore some fabulously Patriotic gear designed by legendary American designer Ralph Lauren.  The signature piece of the collection is undoubtedly the over-the-top sweater blazers worn by the athletes during the opening ceremony.  Our athletes looked fabulous and they certainly made a memorable entrance in the march of the countries!!

Many of the Ralph Lauren pieces are sold out, but thankfully some are still available.  We particularly love the scarf because it is a reasonable price for a 100% wool RL scarf and it's versatile and wearable for many winters to come!

The Team USA belt is also a great fashion choice.  At $75, it won't break the bank but you can still show your support for our wonderful American athletes!  Plus, it has an understated RL elegance that translates well to many different styles.  You could wear this belt with jeans, but it would look totally chic in the summer with a white dress and a denim jacket.

Ralph Lauren wasn't the only company outfitting U.S. athletes.  For the third consecutive Winter Olympics, Burton created official gear for the U.S. Snowboarding team.  This year's uniforms features tea-washed snowboarding jackets in a patchwork design, reminiscent of an antique Americana yard-sale quilt.  They were fabulous!  Unfortunately, Burton did not release any quantity of these uber-stylish official snowboarding jackets for purchase.

If you're looking for a sports-themed movie to get you in the mood for watching the Olympics, look no further than 1969's "Downhill Racer" -- It has a young Robert Redford looking perfect, sassy Gene Hackman, and breathtaking Alpine scenery!  **Spoiler Alert: Bobby wins the Gold!**
